Wildlife Ornament Recipe

They even make great little stocking stuffers for the bird or nature lover in your family .
Homemade Birdseed Ornaments
Makes: Approximately 6 Ornaments (depending on size of cutters)
Prep Time: 10 Minutes and then 6-12 hour hours to let sit and harden
Ingredients and Items Needed

2 packages unflavored gelatin

1/2 cup water

2 cups wild birdseed mixture of your choice

Mixing bowl
-
Cookie Cutters in various shapes

Wax or parchment paper
-
Baking sheet
-
A straw
-
Twine
Instructions

Bring ½ cup of water to a slow boil on the stove. Pour the boiling water into a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin on top and stir well until dissolved. Let cool for a minute.

Add the birdseed mixture into the mixing bowl and mix until it is all combined.

Place a piece of wax/ parchment paper on a baking sheet and arrange chosen cookie cutters .

Fill the cookie cutters up to the top and pack it tightly with the birdseed mixture and press firmly in all corners *For this, you can use a back of a spoon or use a tiny piece of wax paper between your hands and the bird seed because it can get sticky !

Insert a straw wherever you'd like the hole for the twine to be.

Let your ornaments sit at room temperature for 6-12 hours or overnight until they are dry.

Once hardened, gently remove from cookie cutters and tie the twine through the hole.

Hang them in your yard and enjoy or even gift to that bird lover in your family !
